My Favorite Seasonal Perfume

Why seasonal?

As I already explained in my previous blog post, I love to divide my perfumes per season. Whether it's hot and I am gravitating towards my fresh perfume selection or it's -10 outside, which means I am up for a cozy and warm gourmands! I see my perfumes as a part of me as they have to do so much with my mood and how I perceive things that day. It's all because you carry the smell the whole day and all the people around me feel it as well. What also interests me the most is how the same perfume can be perceived so differently during the seasons!

I know it's hard to believe, but once I only had my one main perfume which I used during the winter and (tried) wearing it in the summer. Each attempt in the summer failed because I felt choked and even thought that my one and only bottle of Gucci Bloom had gone bad... But later on, I realized that it was not true!

I would like to recommend an article written by The Perfume Society, that explains the chemistry of the scent depending on a different season, but more specifically the temperature in the air, as not every country in the world has a drastic change in temperature change with the seasons.

I will state the key outtake of the article here:

"Hot weather intensifies the fragrance notes and makes them ‘bloom’ on the skin more quickly – when molecules heat up, they evaporate more quickly.

Colder weather slows down the evaporation rate (so top and heart notes last much longer) and you might find your scent doesn’t project as much in the winter.

But they also mention that it can also be about the feeling. For example, the summer is more associated with something flowery and citrusy, rather than winter, but again in the winter, you want to be cozy and smell like a cashmere sweater or like you just sat at the bonfire.

Having that said, I would like to share my favorites of the seasons, so it may inspire your collection! In this first part, I will show you my Winter and Spring favorites!

Winter

This is the time when I am wearing my proud gourmand collection! I like comfort, and softness, but also my strong perfumes are in action. It's the only time that you will not be overpowered by the sweetness and fullness.

  • My winter heroes are Milk by Commodity with its creaminess and woodiness, for me, it smells like condensed milk which I have loved since I was a child.

  • Then we have an icon Vanilla 28 by Kayali which is the perfect sophisticated vanilla in my opinion, it may make you sneeze as a true vanilla does, but we take a good with a bad here. It's the purest vanilla I smelled, and I like how different people describe my perfume choice of that day: freshly baked cookies, cinnamon latte, caramel fudge, and this list goes on and on. One thing stays the same- it smells amazing! I will definitely repurchase that one.

  • For Her Musc Noir Rose by Narciso Rodriguez is a very sexy and sensual fragrance. I would never wear this to work as it can be too much, but perfect for a night out!

  • Beautiful, amazing, brilliant, and yummy Yum Pistachio Gelato by Kayali with its sweet cotton candy and pistachio notes, it is such a crowd pleaser. It does smell a bit like pistachio, but just a hint. What you smell the most is that rich, deep, and sweet perfume. I love that one very much!

  • Last but definitely not least, the latest addition to the You collection- You Rêve by Glossier, a very dreamy gourmand curtain that is so comforting and unique! People usually cannot wrap their minds around it, as it is gourmand yet fresh and fruity. By the way, I made my first impression on TikTok about this pearl!

Spring

We are waking up from our winter coziness the nature starts flourishing! My soul is asking for flowers and something less heavy than the winter collection, but it's still a bit cold, so some heavy-duty sprint perfumes are back.

  • If you ask my friends which perfume is the most me, they will all scream Good Girl Gone Bad by Killian! I will describe it as my signature scent, even though it is impossible to choose because they are all my favorite kids. But Killian gets special treatment in the spring... Orange Blossom, Teberoos, and Osmanthus give this perfume a clean, yet so sophisticated and bloomy aura that no day will go by without a compliment.

  • Then we have a self-explanatory Flower Market by Maison Margiela which literally screams springtime. Peachy, bloomy and green, this is my description of this romantic spring in a bottle.

  • Imagine walking by the market somewhere in March and all you can see is tulips, tulips, tulips! La Tulipe by Byredo will give you that feeling every time you wear it. Such an icon.

  • And how can not mention Juice+ by Commodity? Rhubarb+ Strawberry +Raspberry= Delicious jam that will make you noxious in the summer, but be respectful during the early spring.

Summer

I already mentioned my summer favorites in this article, but I will share my full summer selection here as well.

  • I cannot miss another Kayali fragrance in my favorite selection! Sparkling Lychee by Kayali is the most uplifting perfume that I own, it's fruity yet not overpowering. It also smells very refreshing, which I would never expect judging by the name and the notes.

  • Then the unexpected choice, the celebrity perfume Sweet Like Candy by Ariana Grande. Normally, I would not gravitate toward a celebrity perfume, but this one I got as a recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint! Very light, girly, and fruity, just perfect for the summer.

  • L'Eau Papier by Diptyque is for the days when it's too hot and you just want to smell like something that is not a fruit or a flower. Rice, pen ink, and sesame will give you that feeling.

  • And my favorite of this selection- is Bergamote 22 by Le Labo, it passed the mid-summer South Italy test for me, so it's a 10/10. I would describe it as an Earl Grey with a hint of lemon, very refreshing!

Autumn

Now we have entered my favorite season, thus my favorite perfume selection! Autumn is all about being cozy, slowing down, and enjoying the season change. So here are my autumn heroes:

  • Coffee Break by Maison Margiela with its creaminess, coffee, and lavender! It smells like coffee with milk (milk note is my recent obsession in the perfume world), but that lavender makes you calm and relaxed. Very unique and worth smelling! The IT autumn perfume in my opinion.

  • Tumeric Latte by Lush is a Chai spicy and warm perfume with is not for everyone. For me, it also smells like a bonfire and a cherry liquor, even though it has nothing to do with a cherry if you look at the notes.

  • Another Lush favorite is Super Milk, which is supposed to smell like their famous hair primer, but it just doesn't. If you forget about the resemblance that it is supposed to have, it is just a beautiful scent on its own. Tonka Bean, vanilla, and a bit of citrus, just gorgeous!

  •  Libre by YSL opens up a very strong yet very sophisticated lavender. Very boss-lady, very powerful! See me wearing this on the presentation day for that extra boost of confidence. And also, this iconic, chic, and minimalistic bottle!

  • If you look at all the colors of the previous perfumes, this next gem will surprise you. Vanilla Candy by Kayali. If I may be honest here, I bought this perfume blindly, because I trust Miss Mona Kattan (founder of Kayali) just that much. And it did not disappoint! Not all autumn days are cozy and gloomy, sometimes you just need that bright spark, with a respectful touch of vanilla, obviously.
