We often meet people who smell so good no matter what, and we want to compliment them all the time! How is that possible? I shower, I spray perfume every day, but how come it disappears over time and that girl on the metro still smells so good!
First, I explained the difference between perfumes in my previous article and how the perfume oil concentration influences the longevity of your beloved potion. But this time I will unveil the secret of smelling nice all day and share some of my favorite layering combinations!
Did you ever hear about layering? The name speaks for itself, but for me, it has two meanings:
The first meaning is the most popular, is when you layer different fragrances with similar notes in order to amplify the smell and maybe even create a new interesting, and unique combination. For an interesting layering combo, I always browse on TikTok!
The second meaning is the one I want to explain in this article. It is when you layer different types of products with familiar notes for a long-lasting smell (such as shower gel, scrub, body lotion, and even shampoo).
Now that you know what I will be referring to in the whole article, let the fun begin!
As you may remember from my article about different types of perfume, we often divide smells and notes into groups such as gourmand, floral, skin-like, etc. This knowledge will help you to understand which base ingredients (shower gels and body lotion) you can use as you start with layering!
A little tip when you are just starting your layering collection! I have lots of body products but the main base for me will always be a fragrance-free moisturizer. The best base for the perfume would be moisturized skin, so it will stay longer rather than on dry skin.
So, the best layering routine you can find is the packages they sell with many perfume sets, like this one of Georgio Armani's Si Perfume with shower gel and body lotion in a set. If you have a "smaller" collection and just wear a few perfumes, I would highly recommend buying those for your fragrance to stay longer. But if you have numerous perfumes just like me, that approach will leave you with too many bottles on your shower shelve, and other than that, not every perfume has its own set.
Here is what I do! I have a small collection of shower gels, scrubs, and body lotion divided by the categories I talked about earlier: gourmand, skin-like, floral, fruity, and woody which I combine with the perfume of the day.
My favorites at the moment are:

To conclude, smelling nice all day without being annoying and over-spraying yourself with perfume is not that hard. The base is the answer!
